I bomb you now, fuzzy.
I tell you what, Charlie, I'm going to bomb this thread with those buds and let the people decide. I gave those buds out all over and people are loving them.
Sure you found mold with a microscope. You need the microscope to find any. Those buds were kept wet as long as possible in vacuumed jars. It made them dank but it also made mold possible. I smoke that bud I gave you all day and love it so I'll buy you 2 soup if 90% of the people who smoke these don't say they are the good stuff. Bud Bomb de Smiley Anarchy This is an open donation of 25 small"smiley anarchy" themed glass jars filled with five grams of the AK-47 in question. These jars will be delivered the Tuesday after next to Big Blue. Pick up between 12pm Tuesday March 30 and 4pm Wednesday March 31. All patients are welcome first come first serve as always but this bomb is also open to growers because they are more critical. Here are the bud bomb rules: Read the entire thing before responding.

OK, Nobody has to say, "No soup for you!" unless they want.
However, you have to say a key phrase because that is how this works to
separate the comments from the requests. The alternate phrase can be "I dunno, maybe they are good. I like pot. o0{)~"
By the way, this all started when I unfortunately gave Charlie a truly moldy bud I pulled out of a ruined jar in my dark kitchen (in the first set of pictures) telling him it was great shit. So I gave him another nug from a different jar that seems fine and said try this one. Well, good thing he likes fuzzy slippers because he keeps kicking me in the nuts. I'd like to know if there is anything wrong with these buds from others and if the trivial amount of white in the pictures that is present is harmful. Could a geek please advise if a miniscule amount of mold on a clean indoor grow, undetectable by smell and requiring a microscope to find is bad for people to smoke and worse than the average outdoor in terms of purity. I'll bring these buds to the bucket brigade tomorrow to determine
their toxicity before releasing into the general population.

A dispute ???
I want to get in the middle of this one
In order to help mediate I'd like to be part of the great No soup for you! v.s. I dunno, maybe they are good. I like pot! debate. I'm sure I'll be around BB sometime on Tuesday or Wednesday. Give me a microscope powerful enough and I can see the Universe. |

My 2 cents, Throw out moldy buds. Yea they may get you high, but is it worth the risk?
If someone is donating moldy meds, someone could gey really sick. |

Think a sec, I can have great stoney buds, but if I use Poisons till the end of my grow, those beutifull buds could be poisonous to the community. Mold is no good, and donating moldy buds is reckless and dangerous. You may need to rethink how you cure your meds. No moldy buds for me thanks, I got enough health problems. Bring the microscope!
At this time of year, we all may be surprised where miniscule amounts are hiding, tis the season. I have a couple between 1-2ltr size I'm gettin' nervous about & the room is double de-humidified. 50+ degree swings in outdoor ambient really suck |

Mold in Oregon ???
I saw, smelt, tasted no mold on the buds I've had from this source.
It wouldn't surprise me if there was a speck since the bud was kind of
humid until I let it dry a bit.
I've been smoking marijuana of varying quality for the last 42 or so years and have seen some mold. Anybody that has ever smoked brick weed from anywhere has smoked mold. There was a time when moldy crap weed cost more than not moldy crap weed. (What were we thinking?) Maybe we should get some sterile agar loaded Petri dishes and learn the dirty little secret about our medicine. I did that on the air in our apartment and was horrified by what grew. Sent in one of the dishes for analysis and learned that I live in one of the highest mold count areas of the country and if I had allergies I should consider moving to a drier area. That said, I will be looking closely and being straight up about what I find. |

As far as mold goes - there are many kinds of mold and the spores are everywhere all the time. Have you ever smoked outdoor medicine? I have seen samples submitted for the Cup that became moldy after they left the growers hands.

Not meaning to say any person cant grow great, and I think the bud Bomb is great.
From the pics it looked mold coated, but they could be deceiving. I have never met Otishertz or have any knowledge of his growing or of him personaly. I was just worried about samples going out moldy. Peace, You guys. Thanks for doing the Bud Bombs, they are great. Please do more............. Ok, I'll go do my chores now, Rick |

While we are on the subject is there any data or studies on smoking mold and other impurities on marijuana? How many types of mold are there? What kind of sickness result? Do all types of mold have the same toxicity? AT told me about hops production and how there are inspections for mold and other things. Commercial grows will probably be subject to at least the same standards. I don't know much about it. If people say the buds are crap I will throw them in the trash at the bucket brigade. I think they are delicious, I like them, and I have a hard time seeing mold on them. I asked Charlie to look for the mold. I can't help it the soup serpent thought it was funny. Anyway, we'll settle this soon enough. Last edited by --- - .. ... .... . .-. - --..; March 21st, 2010 at 08:37 AM. |

Some may smoke it and have no effect, but someone with a health condition may be harmed by mold. NOW, YOUR buds are probably fine, But as a grower, I would never donate anything that wasnt 100%. I am only trying to clarify my opionion, NOTHING personal. |

For those with respiratory ailments or that are immuno depressed, any
sign should be an issue. Me personally, miniscule amounts are the least
of my worries. Much nastier things afoot in a lot of bud.
Drying properly this time of year is the biggest issue. I'd like to see mine up close & Rick's |

Don't worry one bit. I want to learn.
There is no quality control in the OMMP. I give out samples to multiple people every time before I hand out free meds and ask for criticism because I am much newer than most growers and I do not know everything about pot. Lots of people can verify that i seek approval before letting anything out. If every small med donation was scoped before release I bet that the number of donations would decline. The Soup Serpent brings up an important issue - Will minimum standards and inspections for MMJ kill small donations and OMMP as we know it?. The buds were deliberately kept wet as an experiment. It is easy enough to prevent mold, just dry rapidly and settle for a harsher smoke. I have been seeking opinions on these buds for at least a month. If I am wrong I'll be happy to admit. Maybe people will say they are fine. Charlie, if people like these AK-47 how about you wear bunny slippers to big blue every day for a week . If they do not I'll wear the slippers. Whaddya say Soupy? When Kristi talks about people being critical of moldy donations, she is referring to me.
I an very sensitive to moldy buds. I get terrible pneumonia like symptoms. If the buds are tainted, I will know. Damp is not the same as Dank. Damp nugs in a jar, is a perfect recipe for mold. Never seal damp nugs in a jar. It doesn't make them 'more dank'. Only proper curing will do that. The purpose of curing is to RELEASE moisture, at an even rate. Curing prevents mold, by removing excess moisture from inside the bud, drawing it out, so it can be dissipated evenly.

Ok Trolley Rider
SORRY it's taken so long to get back to ya, as I've been writing this
all day and every time I'm about to post something has come up. So
I've added to it all day. Well here it is TROLLEY RIDER:
First of all I love the smell of a FIGHT first thing in the morning. Quote:

SUGAR and SPICE In IMVHO. All I see is a wonderful looking bud. I also had my official taster/tester try it and all they had to say was WOW OH WOW THEM'S SOME MIGHTY TASTY BUDS. That was when they could talk which was a while later. I say BRING them on. I'll take a look at all that y'all have and even take pictures of it for you. But REMEMBER ALL samples WILL be destroy and only a written report will be returned. Quote:

I have spent most of my life living on the coast. From Washington state to So CAL and now on the Oregon Coast. This area is so bad that people have had to move to Arizona for their breathing to improve. I just googled this and took the first link: Can mold make my family sick? Exposure to mold can cause health effects in some people. The most common effects are allergic responses from breathing mold spores. These allergic responses include hay fever or asthma and irritation of the eyes, nose, throat or lungs. We usually cannot say how much mold is too much as our reactions to allergens can vary greatly depending on individual sensitivity. Allergic responses can come from exposure to dead as well as to living mold spores. Therefore, killing mold with bleach and or other disinfectants may not prevent allergic responses. Less common effects of mold exposure include infections and toxic effects. Serious infections from living molds are relatively rare and occur mainly in people with severely suppressed immune systems. Many types of molds may produce toxins but only under certain growth conditions. Toxic effects have been reported from eating moldy grain, but evidence is weak that breathing mold spores in buildings causes toxic effects. What are common symptoms of mold exposure? Allergy and irritation are the most common symptoms of mold exposure. Although symptoms will vary, the most common symptoms seen in people exposed to mold indoors include:
Exposure to high amounts of mold is not healthy for anyone, so obvious mold growth in the home should be cleaned up. However, some individuals may be more susceptible to health problems from mold exposure. These include:
Any extensive indoor mold growth should be treated as a potential health concern and removed as soon as practical no matter what species of mold is present. Identify and correct the source of moisture so that mold will not grow back. How do I know if I have a mold problem? A mold problem can usually be seen or smelled. Mold growth may often appear as slightly furry, discolored, or slimy patches that increase in size as they grow. Molds also produce a musty odor that may be the first indication of a problem. The best way to find mold is to examine areas for visible signs of mold growth, water staining, or follow your nose to the source of the odor. If you can see or smell mold, you can assume you have a mold problem. Other clues include excess moisture and water damage. It may be necessary to look behind and underneath surfaces, such as carpets, wallpaper, cabinets, and walls. There are some areas of the home that are always susceptible to mold growth and should be part of routine cleaning to keep them under control. They are seldom the cause of significant health effects. These are:
Sampling can be expensive. The results are also difficult to interpret partially because we have very limited information about what level of mold exposure is associated with health effects. In some cases, knowing the type of mold that is present can be helpful, but for most cases, sampling is unnecessary. Overall, the best practice regardless of the type or amount of mold is to promptly clean up any mold growth in your home and to correct the water problem that caused it. More from NY State DPT OF HEALTH: http://www.health.state.ny.us/enviro...s/air/mold.htm I encourage growers to have dehumidifiers to PREVENT molds in their rooms. It is one of the EASIEST tools we have at our disposal for good growing. Never jar your medicine when it is wet or damp. SEE DJ SHORT's method for drying....the jar comes for the cure....and that for ME is after it is dry. Good luck to all the growers out there with this potential problem. I am not saying Otis has moldy meds....I don't know him nor have I tried his meds. I just know that MOLD has many ways of ruining meds. Try making butter and not getting all the moisture out of it. Sit in the fridge and come back to a water bubble full OF MOLD. (just another example of good meds gone bad.)

talk shit about the shit
OK I brought the buds to the Bucket Brigade but no Charlie. That's
OK. The largest bud of all of them, which was pretty big, did have mold
inside it. Essentially all of the smaller buds were fine. I gave out
half of what I had and everyone who got it liked it.
You said,"it's on like DONKEY KONG." Therefore, soup slurpant, it is bunny slippers for you. Sorry but your baby booties do not count unless you are going to wear them as earrings to compliment the proper bunny slippers that I am picking out for you right now on amazon. Just have the volunteers at big blue inspect your slippers every day for a week. Don't forget the old school park handshake when you tip them out. So, since there are no objections I will take the remainder of these community approved buds and give them away with a clear conscience. Shame is a bitter soup. The Shit List |
