Otishertz

This forum concerns what we do and what we have to do as OMMP patients and growers in Oregon. Almost all of the content is visible only to registered members. Subjects include charitable medical marijuana growing and business planning in advance of recreational legalization. This is a place to talk about mid to large scale growing and how to make sure we who currently grow are not excluded from the future marketplace.

Otis Gardens grew from Otishertz charitable donations called Bud Bombs beginning in 2009. These were semi-anonymous cannabis donations for legal medical patients done through patient advocate clubs in Portland Like OGF and NGF who did the cardholder verification and distribution that made Bud Bombs possible. Otis Gardens is grateful for the early help provided by OGF, especially the volunteers and founders at Big Blue, RIP.

Individual Bud Bombs consisted of around forty full 50ml jars with art stickers on the cap that signified strain and campaign. The OG bumper sticker below has examples from various campaigns. Bombs were offered first come first serve with little warning on forums where verified cardholders opted in by replying in a thread with a ridiculous code word. Hundreds of Otis Jars were donated this way. There also were BYObong events and many other donations. Excepting contest entries, nothing was ever weighed. We counted by volume in Otis Jars and liter jars. There is no telling how much was donated.

Otisgardens explores way to create a self sustaining charitable garden in a conflicted legal system that prevents what it allows. Many of the ideas here sound mad on first take because they are derived from a hobbling legal framework where fear based rules contradict public health goals. OMMP patients live in an alternate legal and economic universe that warps reality. Warped reality leads to warped ideas. Hopes are to kick start reasoned argument over what is possible with a literal interpretation of the bizarre rules of the OMMP which outlaw major parts of the all pervasive market economy.

In order to understand much here one needs to be familiar with Oregon's OMMP law. If it is illegal for you to expose yourself to information about cannabis plants then please go away.

Otis Gardens is moving as slowly as possible and is not in a hurry to do anything. Our overall strategy is to hibernate until eventual recreational legalization while trying to influence the shape of the future marketplace. The cannabis industry is being forged right now. Otis Gardens will only support initiatives that preserve opportunities for small growers to participate in a future market comprised of many buyers and sellers without undue barriers to entry.

Basic MMJ gardening information is easy to find on the internet. No attempt will be made at duplicating it. Also no attempt to be made at duplicating the services provided by several existing non-profits. There will be no med requests, grower patient matching, doc in a box, or anything like that.

Otis Gardens is a about being an Oregon Medical Marijuana Program grower. It contains information by Otishertz about growing methods used to sweep the 2010 OGF Harvest Festival, marijuana industry analysis, and grower advocacy.

Another purpose of this site is to preserve and share knowledge and experiences accumulated over two years growing cannabis in my kitchen and systematically giving 90% of it away in Bud Bombs and other ways. Currently there is an ongoing Bean Bomb of free seeds for OMMP cardholders.

I evaluate the impact of proposed marijuana legislation on the medical community and its growers who are forced to remain small and forego profit as big corporations jockey for control of the future cannabis industry in Oregon. I look to expose inroads attempted by the Corporate State while promoting industry standards of open access with low barriers to entry.

Above all I wish to keep the small grower (Me) from being excluded from the future cannabis industry in Oregon and promote exclusion of the corporate agenda instead.
